Sports facilities were built in the yard of the Ivan Goran Kovačić Elementary School in Velika (Trg Josipa bana Jelačića 7, plot no. 889/1, Velika cadastral municipality) – an athletics track with field event areas, plus sports courts for basketball, handball, five-a-side football, volleyball, "graničar" and an outdoor fitness area.
The athletics track consists of four circular running lanes 333 m long and six 100 m straight lanes, finished with a 13 mm permeable synthetic surface to IAAF standards. Facilities for pole vault, long jump and high jump were built in the western semicircle, while the shot put area was built east of it.
The basketball court (28 × 15 m, with a 2 m safety zone) was built on the eastern side within the athletics track, with a 16 mm synthetic surface to FIBA standards. West of it, a handball court (20 × 40 m, with a 2 m side safety zone and 3 m behind the goals) was built with a 1 mm impermeable acrylic surface to IHF standards. A five-a-side football pitch (20 × 40 m) was built on the western side, with 3.8 mm artificial turf filled with quartz sand and SBR granules to FIFA standards, and a volleyball court (18 × 9 m, with a 4 m side safety zone and 6 m behind the service lines) was built west of it, with a 16 mm surface to FIVB standards. A "graničar" court (24 × 15 m) was built on the southeastern side, while an outdoor fitness area with exercise equipment was built on artificial turf with a quartz sand infill (24 × 15 m).
Behind the handball, five-a-side football and volleyball courts, a 5.0 m high protective net of PP mesh on aluminum posts was installed. A 2.0-3.5 m wide pedestrian path finished with concrete pavers was built between the courts, connecting the school to the sports facilities. A 1.8 m high panel fence was installed along the eastern, northern and western edges of the plot to control access to the area.
